Chamberlain / LiftMaster E-Commerce Redesign

A unified commerce experience across five brands, one platform.

problem

Chamberlain Group's five brand sites (Chamberlain, LiftMaster, MyQ, and others) were fragmented, visually inconsistent, and built on a foundation that made scaling across brands nearly impossible. With a mandate to connect 30 million homes to the MyQ ecosystem by 2020, the business needed a commerce platform that could move fast and hold together.

solution

As UX & Creative Director at Upshot Agency, I made the earliest and most important call: systematize before you specialize. Rather than designing five sites sequentially, we built one shared foundation, a unified design system, pattern library, and component architecture on SAP Hybris, that every brand could inherit and build on top of. Chamberlain launched June 28, LiftMaster August 11, 2018.

Before a single visual was designed, we went deep: stakeholder interviews, site audits, competitive analysis, customer segmentation, and journey mapping across a diverse audience of homeowners, contractors, dealers, and commercial buyers.

The architecture came next. One information model. One pattern library. One set of responsive templates built to flex across five distinct brand identities without duplicating effort or creating technical debt.

With the foundation in place, the work moved fast. Wireframes validated through usability testing, components handed directly to front-end, brands launching sequentially on a shared codebase.

The before-and-after tells the rest.

Five brand sites. One platform. A roadmap that kept growing.
